Sheffield in Harmony - what a show!!!

Hallmark were blown away by the audience reception we had for our Autumn show, in the beautiful surroundings of University of Sheffield's Firth Hall. The show was a treat indeed, an exciting show delivered to a packed hall! Inviting Sheffield Harmony, our sister chorus in Sheffield to join us, the ladies gave an excellent performance in the first half, with Hallmark taking the stage for the second half. Our fantastic and hard working MD, Tim Briggs, had an extra workload this particular night, being not only the director of both choruses, but also part of our other guest act, Hannah and the Hurricanes. Hannah and the Hurricanes, being the World Silver Medal holding mixed quartet, delighted the audience with a wide variety of songs, it was a priviledge to have you there!

Hallmark gave a final package of five songs, all arrangements of Simon and Garfunkel, two of them Hallmark commissions from the wonderful Sam Hubbard. Keep The Customer Satisfied, Cecilia, a classic barbershop eight part arrangement of Scarborough Fair and a nine part arrangment of Bridge Over Troubled Water. Finally, Sam's arrangement of America, perfomed by both Hallmark and Sheffield Harmony together with Hannah and the Hurricanes, with around 80 singers on the stage, this was a highlight for us as performers and for the audience. Wonderul arrangment and a huge sound to round off a great night. If only had worked up an encore!

In Hallmark style, many of the choruses and the audience lingered long into the evening in the Firth Hall bars, singing to each other and enjoying the show we had put on. We can't wait for our 40th anniversary show next year now, it can't come soon enough! Put it in your diaries now, 3rd November 2018. It promises to be something even more special than this one has been for us.
